With roots deeply tied to her Christian background, her gospel singing career started when she joined a choir in her hometown of Newburgh, NY at Ebenezer Baptist Church while attending elementary school. In second grade, she picked up her first instrument, the violin, and by age fourteen, she was playing guitar, drums, bass, piano and trumpet with ease. It was clear that music would become her main career.

An honors student, Christine doubled up on her workload and graduated high school a year early from Newburgh Free Academy to jump start her music career. She earned a Bachelor of the Arts degree from Bard College, focusing on music and languages whilst studying abroad in both Mexico and France with intensive language courses. At Bard, she began performing for large audiences while both writing and producing several independently released albums before graduating.
